Privacy Policy of MultiTab App

This revision applies from MultiTab for Bluesky and MultiTab for Flickr version 8.1.5. Until you update to 8.1.5, the previous policy (ad-supported free usage) continues to apply to those apps.

Summary for the App Store users

To summarize in advance for the App Store users, MultiTab apps offer different privacy models depending on the app.

1) Privacy-first apps: MultiTab for Bluesky, MultiTab for Flickr

These apps have no servers, no ads, and no tracking. They do not contain any third-party SDKs and do not collect any data. Each app talks only to the service you signed in to.

  • App Store privacy label: Data Not Collected.

This applies to all users, whether you are a subscriber or not.

2) Ad-supported apps: MultiTab for Tumblr

This app offers two kinds of app privacy depending on whether you are a subscriber or not.

For the subscribers: the app does not collect any user data. It collects only app usage statistics for functional improvement.

  • Data Not Linked to You: Identifiers, Usage Data. (This data may be collected but it is not linked to you.)

For the free users: the app uses 3rd party advertising (currently, Google AdMob) for the free usage. So, the ad network may collect non-personally identifiable data to provide targeted advertising. Referring to the Google AdMob documentation, the following data may be collected.

  • Data Linked to You: Coarse Location, Identifiers, Usage Data, Diagnostics.
  • Data Not Linked to You: Diagnostics.

We do not use tracking. Our app does not request App Tracking Transparency (ATT) permission from users. As a result, the ad network will serve only non-personalized ads on our apps.

We display the app privacy label at the App Store according to the second criterion, free usage. But if you purchase a subscription, then the app will not load any ad network library and will work according to the first criterion.

As an exception, ‘MultiTab for Reddit’ app does not display ads even to non-subscribers and does not contain an advertising module. So all users have the same privacy policy as the subscribers described above.

Following is the formal description of our privacy policy.

Your Data and the App

We do not collect your user data.

MultiTab app is a client for feed services such as Bluesky, Tumblr, Flickr, and Reddit. All these services require an ‘Access Token’ to access their service. Our app gets the ‘Access Token’ from the service when you log in through our app. MultiTab app saves this access token on your local device with encryption. We do not collect this access token to our server. We use it only for your intent on that device.

You may generate a lot of activity data while using the app. MultiTab app saves this data on your local device. This data is used only for functionality. MultiTab app does not send any user data to us. We do not collect any user-related data such as email address or account name.

If you want to delete the data generated while using our app, you can delete it by deleting the app from your device. We store the data only on the local device, so when you delete the app, this data is deleted as well, except for a few small app records (such as purchase-related records) kept in the device’s secure Keychain. These stay only on your device and are never sent anywhere.

Data Collection for the Ad-Supported Apps

This entire section applies to the ad-supported apps, and to ‘MultiTab for Reddit’ for the usage statistics part as noted above. The privacy-first apps collect none of the following.

Collection of Information

We collect the following information.

  • Usage statistics. Such as running time, launch frequency, app version.
  • Device Information.

All this information is encoded with a unique identifier we provide randomly when the app is launched first. We collect and save this information through an encrypted method.

Use of Information

We may use collected information for the following purposes:

  • Monitor and analyze usage and activities in connection with our app.
  • Provide, maintain and improve our app, including to provide additional features.

Sharing of Information

We will share the collected information with third parties only in the ways that are described in this privacy statement.

  • required by law, such as to comply with a subpoena, or similar legal process.
  • involved in a merger, acquisition, or similar situation.
  • to any other third party with your prior consent to do so.

Tracking and Ads

For the ad-supported apps, we reserve the right to partner with a third party ad network to display advertising on our app. Our ad network partner would use technologies to collect non-personally identifiable information about your activities on this and other apps to provide you targeted advertising based upon your interests.

The privacy-first apps do not contain any advertising module.

iCloud Backup

Your open tabs and app settings can be backed up to your personal iCloud account. This backup lives in your own iCloud storage. Only you can access it. We cannot access, read, or collect it.

How to Verify

You do not have to take our word for it. iOS provides the App Privacy Report (Settings > Privacy & Security > App Privacy Report). Turn it on and use the app for a while. You can check every network domain the app has contacted. For the privacy-first apps, you will see only the domains of the service you signed in to.

Changes to our privacy policy

We may modify or update this Privacy Policy from time to time, so please review it periodically. We may provide you additional forms of notice of modifications or updates as appropriate under the circumstances.
